Sze Lok Yuen

Sze Lok Yuen hostel is situated some 650 meters above sea level on the slopes of Tai Mo Shan which at 957 meters is Hong Kong's highest mountain. It is one of the very few places in which temperatures fall sufficiently in winter for icicles to form: a source of fascination to local residents to whom such sights are a welcome rarity in Hong Kong's generally warm climate. This hostel, located towards the end of the 100km long trans-New Territories Maclehose Trail, is especially popular with hikers but also provides relatively easy access for those wishing to escape for a while from the congestion of Tsuen Wan and the urban New Territories.
