Canossa Hospital was founded in 1929 by the Canossian Daughters of Charity. The original building with 16 beds was destroyed during the Second World War. The present structure was opened in 1960 and has 148 beds. Since 1991 the hospital has been operated by Caritas-Hong Kong.

Goals: 1.To use a team approach in meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our patients and their families. 2.To maintain the highest standards of Catholic medical ethics. 3.To create an optimal and safe environment for our staff to develop their skills. 4.To monitor and improve the standards of hospital practice. 5.To establish the Hospital as a centre of family medicine for the local community. 6.To communicate and cooperate with patient groups and health care agencies in order to provide a seamless service to our patients.
