A wine auction in Hong Kong, run by the American auction house Acker Merrall & Condit, raised more than 64 million Hong Kong dollars (about $8 million) on Saturday, breaking an Asian record for wine auctions and beating a presale estimate of 50 million Hong Kong dollars, Agence France-Presse reported. The hot lot of the day, a case of 1990 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, went for 1.89 million Hong Kong dollars (about $242,000). The auction was the second major sale in Hong Kong since February, when the government removed duties on imported wines.
